County Information

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has recommended that certain groups of the population receive the 2009 H1N1 vaccine when it first becomes available. These target groups include pregnant women, people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age, health care and emergency medical services personnel, persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old, and persons between the ages of 25 and 64 years old who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems. One of the first groups to receive the vaccine will be children 6 months through 4 years of age.

Data on the Illinois Early Childhood Asset Map (IECAM) are used by a wide range of individuals—advocates, administrators, legislators, policy makers, and Public Health Department personnel.

County health departments in Illinois have requested demographic information to assist them in accurately estimating their need for H1N1 vaccines for children 5 and under in their county. In response, IECAM has made available the following new Standard Report.

Creating Standard Reports

In this report, you can find data on Early Care and Education Services (including Preschool for All, Head Start, and child care) and Child Population by County:

1. From the IECAM home page (http://iecam.crc.uiuc.edu/), click on the link for “Search Data” in the menu bar near the top of the page, to go to the GIS map introductory page.
2. In the Task box near the top left of the GIS map introductory page, click on the link for “Create Standard Report.”
3. From the “Select Report” list/menu box, select “Early Care and Education Services and Child Population by County.”
4. Select the geographic area “counties.”
5. Select the county in which you’re interested and click on the Submit button.
