Individuals from across the state of Illinois have been using IECAM. Several share their thoughts below as they explore the capabilities of the Illinois Early Childhood Asset Map (IECAM).

"This year I wrote an ISBE Prevention Initiative Grant. After attending the IECAM training, I was able to acquire most of the data I needed to prepare the needs assessment section of my grant. IECAM proved to be a time-saving and efficient way to obtain statistics and pertinent information, and all early childhood providers need ways to help save time." — Jill Andrews, Ph.D., Southern Illinois Early Childhood Action Team

“The Illinois Early Learning Council and its committees have used information from IECAM to ground their discussions – and decisions – in data. "IECAM pulls together a wealth of important early childhood program and demographic information — the kind of numbers sought by children's advocates and policymakers alike. This significant new data tool will help us to get a better grasp on the real, ground-level implications of statewide policy decisions regarding early education, as well as assist in improving those decisions. Its micro-level focus will greatly benefit macro-level policy approaches to — for example — matching the needs of kids and families with the availability of different kinds of early learning programs." — Sean Noble, Voices for Illinois Children

IECAM is planned and developed by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in collaboration with Chicago Metropolis 2020. Public funds have come from the Illinois State Board of Education, Illinois Department of Human Services, Illinois Network of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies, and University of Illinois.
