Searching the IECAM Data Collection:
Create Standard Report
The purpose of the "Create Standard Report" feature is to provide data that answer frequently asked questions about early care and education services in Illinois, related to a selected geographic region. Data are presented in a prearranged format so that it is unnecessary to go through all the steps in the IECAM search process.
The following standard reports are available.
- Publicly Funded Preschool and Head Start (FY2007)
- Building Blocks Community Assessment Data Sheet
- Response to PFA Request for Proposals
- Early Care and Education Services and Child Population by County

On the IECAM home page, click on the menu item to "Search Data."
This takes you to the GIS introductory page.
In the task bar on the lefthand side of the page is a menu item to "Create Standard Report." Select this menu item.
The Standard Report window appears. In the "Select Report" list, choose the report in which you are interested. For this example, we choose "Early Care and Education Services and Child Population by County." Depending on which report you select, the geographic areas that are available for that report will appear in the lefthand panel of the window.
Select the geographic region in which you're interested. For this standard report, the only available region is "Counties."
After selecting the region, the instances of that region appear in the righthand panel of the window. From these counties, we select "Champaign."
If you want to select all counties, click on that button. If you make a mistake in your selection and you want to start over, click on the "Select None" button and the selections will be voided.
If you want to find where a township or municipality is located (not applicable to this particular example), you can click on the "Help Find Regions" button. The "Help Find Regions" window appears.
In this window, you can select a region type and an instance of that region type. In this example, we select the region type "County" and "Champaign." The map redraws to Champaign County, highlighting the townships and municipalities in that county.
Now back to the main search. We've selected "Counties" and "Champaign." Create the standard report by clicking on the "Submit" button.
A Report Application Window appears, displaying the standard report.
The report includes descriptive text and tables of data. Scroll down the window to see the rest of the report.
... and ... etc.
The previous graphic shows that the report can be exported to an Excel or PDF file. Select the desired format and click on the Export link. In this example, the report is exported to an Excel file.
