ISBE PreK
The Prekindergarten Program for Children at Risk of Academic Failure is one of
four programs funded by the Early Childhood Block Grant (ECBG) program in the
State of Illinois
NOTE: This program was expanded by the Preschool for All Children program beginning in
July 2006 [that is, at the beginning of FY 2007]. The data presented here are
for the PreK program FY2006, not for the expanded PreK/Preschool for All
Children program that began in FY2007. See the detailed note below for more
information.

Note: In the prekindergarten programs (for FY 2006), eligible children are 3- to 5-year-olds (not eligible for kindergarten) who are determined, through a screening process, to be at risk for academic failure.
Note: The former Prekindergarten Program for Children at Risk of Academic Failure is being expanded with the Preschool for All Children program beginning in July 2006 (that is, FY 2007). The Preschool for All Children program incorporates six program components, including requirements related to teacher certification, class size, and professional development.
