Licensed family child care homes
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) uses the term "Day Care Home." Day care homes are "family homes in which care is provided for more than three children, including the caregiver's own children, related and unrelated children." These homes must be licensed by DCFS.

Note: Licensed family child care homes serve up to a total of 12 children who are up to 12 years of age. Several categories of children's age groupings are permitted. These are explained in the Summary of Licensing Standards for Day Care Homes. (See Link above.)
